Viva la Vida — Frida Kahlo Series

Inspired by the painting Viva la Vida by Frida Kahlo, this colorway celebrates vitality, resilience, and the defiant insistence on joy.

Painted near the end of Kahlo’s life, Viva la Vida depicts ripe slices of watermelon marked with the words “long live life.” The work is both celebratory and resolute — a declaration of presence, pleasure, and survival. That spirit is the heart of this colorway.

Saturated watermelon pinks and reds move across the skein alongside fresh greens and grounding neutrals, creating a palette that feels vivid without tipping into novelty. The colors interact with intention, allowing contrast and rhythm to emerge naturally as the fabric grows.

This is a joyful colorway, but not a shallow one. Like Kahlo’s work, Viva la Vida balances sweetness with strength — color as affirmation, fiber as declaration.
