The Sum of Us — Hand-Dyed Wool Roving

The Sum of Us — Hand-Dyed Wool Roving

Inspired by The Sum of Us by Heather McGhee, this literature-inspired roving draws from a work that examines how division—particularly racial division—has been used to undermine collective prosperity, and how solidarity can create something stronger, more expansive, and more just.

McGhee’s work reframes the narrative: what has been lost through separation is not abstract—it is measurable, tangible, and shared. The Sum of Us invites us to imagine what becomes possible when we reject scarcity thinking and instead invest in one another.
