Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit — Hand-Dyed Wool Roving
4 ounces of hand-dyed wool roving in Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit, inspired by the novel Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit by Jeanette Winterson.
Originally developed as part of my Banned Book Yarn Club, this colorway draws from the novel’s vivid symbolism and emotional tension. Bright citrus golds glow at the center of the braid, surrounded by cool greens, softened blues, and deep, wine-toned reds — a palette that balances sweetness with resistance, warmth with complexity.
Color shifts intentionally along the braid, allowing contrast and depth to reveal themselves as the fiber is spun, felted, or woven. Dyed in small batches, each braid is a one-of-a-kind interpretation of a story that refuses to be simplified.

Each braid is hand-dyed in small batches; no two are ever exactly alike.
Variations in color placement and saturation are a natural part of the hand-dyeing process.
