Offred — Banned Book Colorway

Inspired by The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, Offred is a literature-inspired colorway created in direct response to a moment when women’s bodily autonomy and personal agency were publicly stripped away.

Pink represents women.
Red represents the blood that has been shed — and the blood that will be shed again if we allow others to make these choices for us.
The scattered speckles symbolize hope, solidarity, and the unity of women.

That symbolism carries directly into the yarn. Deep wine and blood-red tones form the foundation — grounded, heavy, and unflinching. These are interrupted by pale blush and vivid pinks, flashes of softness and vulnerability, layered with sharp, electric green speckles that cut through the surface like signals of resistance.

The contrast is intentional and striking: beauty and brutality held in the same space. In the fabric, the colors unfold unevenly, creating tension, movement, and moments of unexpected brightness — a reflection of solidarity, endurance, and refusal.

While not a deep-space colorway, Offred includes subtle UV-reactive speckles — a quiet reminder that resistance doesn’t always announce itself loudly, but it is always present.

This colorway exists as both memorial and warning.
