Madonna & Child — Hand-Dyed Wool Roving
Madonna & Child — Hand-Dyed Wool Roving
Madonna & Child is inspired by the work of Artemisia Gentileschi, whose paintings bring gravity, realism, and emotional authority to intimate subjects. Rather than idealized sweetness, her Madonna is grounded, watchful, and resolute — tenderness held within strength.
This colorway unfolds in deep, contemplative layers: shadowed teals and forest greens anchor the palette, while olive, ochre, and embered warmth move through the braid like quiet protection and lived experience. Subtle transitions and earthy depth give the roving a sense of weight and presence, with color shifting organically as it drafts.
Madonna & Child translates Gentileschi’s vision into fiber — intimate, protective, and profoundly human, with strength woven directly into softness.
