Lake Erie Algae Bloom — Nature Collection | UV Reactive

Inspired by summers spent along the shores of Lake Erie, Lake Erie Algae Bloom is a tongue-in-cheek tribute to warm water, neon warnings, and the unmistakable glow of an algae bloom at its peak.

Reformulated in 2022, this has become one of Laughing Cat Fibers’ most popular colorways — and for good reason.

This is a deliberately complex dye recipe built through layered speckling and UV-reactive dyes, creating a palette that feels electric, hazardous, and strangely beautiful. Acidic greens, chartreuse, and toxic yellow tones collide with shadowed undertones, producing a skein that looks alive in motion.

In normal light, the colorway reads bold and high-energy. Under black light, hidden UV elements ignite — amplifying the “toxic bloom” effect and pushing the colorway fully into its intended absurd glory.

This is not a subtle yarn.
It’s a warning label.
