Goldfish — Gustav Klimt Series | UV Reactive

Inspired by Goldfish by Gustav Klimt, this colorway explores how to translate one of the artist’s most iconic materials — gold leaf — into fiber.

Klimt’s work is defined by contrast: ornament against skin, metallic brilliance set into shadow, beauty that feels both luxurious and confrontational. In Goldfish, the luminous gold is not subtle — it demands attention, glowing against darker, more grounded tones.

That challenge became the heart of this dye process.

Rather than attempting a literal metallic effect, Goldfish captures the experience of gold leaf through light. Deep emerald greens, shadowed teal, and burnished undertones form a rich foundation, while vivid gold tones are layered into the skein. Under black light, those golden elements ignite — glowing with intensity and movement, much like Klimt’s use of gold to pull the eye and disrupt the surface of the painting.

In natural light, the palette reads bold, painterly, and dimensional. Under UV light, the gold reveals itself fully — radiant, intentional, and impossible to ignore.

This is UV used as concept, not novelty: a modern answer to Klimt’s gilded surfaces, translated into yarn.
