Fall — Giuseppe Arcimboldo | The Seasons Series

Inspired by Fall, the third painting in Giuseppe Arcimboldo’s celebrated series The Seasons, this colorway captures the turning point between abundance and decline — where harvest gives way to decay, and richness begins to deepen into shadow.

Arcimboldo’s Fall is composed of ripened grapes, gourds, apples, and foliage on the edge of collapse. The portrait feels heavier than Summer, darker and more grounded, reflecting a season defined by completion rather than growth. It is the moment when nature gathers itself before winter.

That sense of transition defines this colorway.

Burnished golds, wine-dark purples, rust, deep plum, and muted orchard tones move across the skein in layered, painterly transitions. Colors are allowed to pool and overlap, creating depth rather than contrast — echoing Arcimboldo’s dense, stacked compositions where texture carries the narrative.

This is a grounded, atmospheric palette — rich, moody, and deliberate. As fabric grows, the colorway reveals complexity and weight, making it especially suited to garments, textured stitches, and projects that benefit from slow color movement.
