Damas de Morado — Frida Kahlo Series

Inspired by the work and legacy of Frida Kahlo, Damas de Morado is a colorway built on strength, complexity, and deliberate beauty. Like Kahlo herself, it is unapologetically rich, layered, and emotionally resonant.

This is a multi-process colorway — a true labor of love.

Each skein begins with carefully dyed base layers of saturated purples, ranging from soft plum to deep aubergine. Once those layers are set, the yarn is overdyed with a dark gray, a finishing step that deepens the palette and gives the colorway its jewel-toned finish. Rather than dulling the color, the overdye adds shadow, contrast, and depth that reveals itself gradually as the fabric is worked.

Subtle blue tones move through the skein as intentional contrast — a nod to the quiet but powerful details often found in Kahlo’s work, where even a small element carries voice and meaning. These moments of contrast give the purple room to breathe, grounding the colorway while enhancing its richness.

Because this colorway is created using a layered, multi-step dye process, no two skeins are identical. Variations in tone, saturation, and color placement are expected and are part of the character of the yarn.

For larger projects, alternating skeins is recommended for the most even color flow.

Because each skein is carefully dyed and thoughtfully curated by hand, please allow 4–6 weeks for turnaround, especially during peak seasons.
