Inspired by Courage, Anxiety and Despair (Watching the Battle) by James Sant, this art-inspired colorway draws from a moment where action is distant, outcomes are uncertain, and emotional weight is borne by those who wait.
Sant’s painting does not depict the battle itself. Instead, it centers the interior lives of those left to watch—three figures embodying resolve, fear, and grief, bound together by uncertainty. It is a study in emotional labor: the quiet, often invisible work of holding steady while decisions, conflicts, and consequences unfold elsewhere.
This work felt unavoidable in the current moment. We are living in a time shaped by prolonged uncertainty—where many experience history not through direct action, but through anticipation, vigilance, and the strain of watching events ripple outward in real time. Each skein is dyed individually using layered techniques, making every skein unique.
For larger projects, alternating skeins is recommended for the most even color flow.
