Circe — Hand-Dyed Wool Roving

Circe — Hand-Dyed Wool Roving

4 ounces of hand-dyed wool roving in Circe, inspired by Circe Invidiosa by John William Waterhouse.

This colorway draws from Waterhouse’s portrayal of enchantment and quiet menace—deep, shadowed teals and inky browns surrounding an electric, venomous green. The composition centers that luminous green as a focal point, echoing the sorceress’s potion: alluring, dangerous, impossible to ignore.

The green section is dyed with UV-reactive pigment and glows under black light, intensifying dramatically in low light conditions. In daylight, the color reads as vivid and saturated; under UV, it ignites.

Color moves intentionally along the braid, allowing the darker tones to frame and contain the glow. Depending on drafting style, the finished yarn can emphasize contrast or soften into layered transitions.

Dyed in small batches, each braid carries natural variation in placement and saturation, enhancing the narrative quality of the spin.
