Bird Superior- The Leonora Carrington Series

Inspired by Bird Superior (Portrait of Max Ernst) by Leonora Carrington, this art-inspired colorway draws from a painting where surreal symbolism and intimate storytelling converge. Carrington’s portrait is rich with myth, humor, and quiet rebellion—most notably through the deliberate emphasis on a bold yellow sock, a detail that is playful, defiant, and impossible to ignore.

That unexpected contrast carries directly into the yarn. Deep maroons, icy turquoise, and shadowed purples create a complex, moody foundation, punctuated by a vivid strike of yellow. The result is a palette designed for statement pieces—expressive, layered, and unmistakably artistic.

Bird Superior honors Carrington’s surrealist vision and her creative partnership with Max Ernst, translating painted myth, symbolism, and subversion into fiber.
