All Boys Aren’t Blue — Hand-Dyed Wool Roving
4 ounces of hand-dyed wool roving in All Boys Aren’t Blue, inspired by All Boys Aren't Blue by George M. Johnson.
Originally developed as the first colorway in my Banned Books Yarn Club, this roving translates the heart of the collection into fiber for spinners, felters, and fiber artists.
Johnson’s memoir speaks openly about identity, vulnerability, and lived experience — themes that have led the book to be frequently challenged, but also make it deeply important. This roving honors that honesty through color, movement, and intention.
Layered, saturated blues move organically along the braid, creating depth and variation that feels fluid and expressive in the hand. Dyed in small batches, each braid is custom curated to preserve softness, loft, and clarity of color, making it well-suited for spinning yarn with nuance, felting statement pieces, or incorporating into mixed-media fiber work.
Each braid is a one-of-a-kind expression of story, visibility, and creative resistance.
