1984 — Hand-Dyed Wool Roving
Inspired by 1984 by George Orwell, this hand-dyed wool roving translates the novel’s stark warnings about surveillance, control, and the erosion of truth into fiber.
Originally developed as part of my Banned Book Yarn Club, this colorway reflects the tension between imposed order and inner resistance. Muted, atmospheric tones are layered with intentional contrast, evoking the pressure of conformity alongside the quiet persistence of independent thought. The palette is complex and restrained, designed to unfold slowly as the fiber is worked.
